Mark Bazil

Mark Alan Bazil is an art director, writer and creative director with more than 20 years of advertising agency experience. He began his career at Young & Rubicam, and prior to joining SCAD, was vice president/creative director for Erwin-Penland, a Hill|Holliday operation. He also served at several other ad agencies, including his own, Bazil-Victory Advertising. Bazil has worked for clients such as BMW, DirecTV, Lincoln-Mercury, Michelin, MTV, St. Pauli Girl, VH1, Verizon and Wachovia, and has received more than 140 advertising awards, including the Clio, EFFIE, ADDY, Matrix, Caddy, PICA and Telly.

Gauri Deshpande

Gauri Deshpande grew up in Mumbai, India, and began her career as a designer at Elle magazine in Mumbai. She then was a designer at Contract Advertising, a JWT affiliate agency in Mumbai, handling projects for such clients as Cadbury, ABN AMRO, BPL Mobile and NIIT. She then worked in e-commerce development firms such as Screenhouse Inc. and Zooba Inc. in Boston before moving to Savannah to teach in the graphic design department. She was part of the group of faculty who pioneered the development and instruction of eLearning courses at SCAD, as well as the development of the advertising design program. Her areas of expertise include cross-cultural communication, retail branding, usability design, planning and user interface design for Web development, design methodologies relating to inclusive design, and integrated marketing. She is a member of the Art Director's Club New York and the High Museum of Art.

Lindsay Hadley

Lindsay Hadley is a former art director and principal of Indianapolis’ Hetrick Communications Inc., the second-largest communications firm in Indiana, where her work was honored with silver and gold Addy Awards. Since 2005, Hadley's students have been placed in art director or designer positions with Hallmark, Chronicle Books, Lands End, Nine West, Saatchi & Saatchi, Digital Flannel and Ralph Lauren.

Eli Hale

Eli Hale is a brand director and former marketing manager of Xerox Corporation in Rochester, N.Y., where he branded new office products, including creating digital marketing materials for the worldwide sales force. After moving to Savannah, he opened his own agency, Kailo Advertising, and continues to work as brand director. At SCAD, he focuses on branding studies and the client-relations side of advertising.

Stephen Hall is a graphic designer, advertising art director, writer, creative director and instructor with 25 years of experience. Prior to joining SCAD, he worked as a vice president and creative director at Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising. His campaigns for professional film, agricultural chemicals and network infrastructure on behalf of Kodak, DuPont and Alcatel earned numerous national awards. In addition to teaching, he serves as graduate adviser for advertising design students at SCAD.

Art Halperin is an accomplished creative director and advertising agency principal who serves as an adjunct professor at SCAD-Atlanta. He has worked at internationally recognized firms including J. Walter Thompson, Tracy-Locke/BBDO and the Richards Group in New York, Dallas and Atlanta. During his career, he helped create strategically focused, integrated marketing campaigns for IBM, GE, HBO, ING, Phillips Petroleum, Frito-Lay, the U.S. Marine Corps. and other national advertisers.

Art Novak's copywriting portfolio — which includes work for Fortune 500 companies including 3M and Cargill — encompasses virtually all print and broadcast media as well as advertising collateral. In addition to working for such ad agencies as Campbell-Mithun in Minneapolis and N.W. Ayer in Chicago, Novak wrote numerous video scripts, speeches, songs and live presentations as creative director for Martin/Bastian, a Minneapolis-based firm specializing in corporate communications. Before becoming a professor, Novak also ran a successful copywriting business, the Art of Copy.

Bill Shanahan, D.B.A., Ph.D., operated Shanahan Marketing Communications, a full-service marketing, advertising and public relations firm in Chicago, prior to teaching at SCAD. He also has taught design, business, psychology, law and marketing students in the marketing communications program at Illinois Institute of Technology; marketing at the International School of Management, Paris; and Consumer Behavior at Institut Supérieur Européen de Gestion, Paris. In addition, he was a prime architect and the program director of an eBusiness program at The University of Chicago. Shanahan has guest lectured to students of the University of Notre Dame, Roosevelt University, and the University of Management and Marketing, Warsaw, Poland.

Andrew Sokol

Andrew K. Sokol has more than 20 years of experience creating, managing and nurturing profitable relationships in the payment industry throughout the world. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of business development at Payment Partners and was responsible for redefining the market for the company's payment service. He also has been involved in marketing, sales and development consulting in a wide variety of business segments and verticals. He served in executive positions at Visa, MasterCard and First Data Resources, where he designed and implemented national sales strategies, managed effective deployment of resources, closed significant business contracts in new product areas, and developed productive major client relationships. In addition to teaching at SCAD, Sokol serves as managing partner for TASK Partners LLC.

Sean Trapani

Sean Trapani spent more than 15 years in the advertising industry, where he worked as a copywriter and creative director for large and small ad agencies, including a stint for Erwin-Penland, a Hill-Holliday shop. He has led creative efforts in developing television, radio and print advertisements for Monster.com, Verizon Wireless and scores of other household-name companies. Trapani is also a published editorial writer who has contributed to travel magazines, trade journals and the Boca Raton News. At SCAD, he collaborates with local businesses to introduce real-world advertising challenges to his students.

Mick Ulichney

A veteran of 29 years in advertising and marketing, Mick Ulichney has served as vice president, creative director, art director, copywriter and broadcast producer for both large and boutique-sized agencies, where he developed creative strategies and concepts for projects ranging from branding campaigns to new product launches. His large-scale neo-pop paintings have been accepted into regional and national juried shows and have won numerous awards of merit.
