Orientation is designed to help facilitate a smooth transition for all new students as they embark on their lives at SCAD. Attendees become acquainted with the academic environment, support services and facilities at the university; review important policies and procedures; and connect with both current student leaders and fellow incoming students. In addition, new students' family members learn about being supportive during the transition to college life.

Orientation participants become acquainted with the academic environment and support services and facilities at the university and review important policies and procedures. As part of their welcome to the SCAD community, new SCAD students have the chance to meet and interact with current student leaders, faculty and administrators. All new students are strongly encouraged to attend.

Summer Swarm 2012

Summer Swarm is an optional orientation session for first-year students who have paid the enrollment fee indicating their intent to enroll fall quarter in Savannah. Sessions for students and parents are led by professional SCAD staff who are dedicated to your success as a student. Students who attend Summer Swarm stay in a SCAD residence hall, eat in the dining hall, and meet with current SCAD students, faculty and staff. SCAD ID photos are taken and fall class schedules are discussed with the first-year student success advisers. Admission counselors and other staff are available to answer questions about financial aid and scholarships. A maximum of 120 students are accepted per session on a first-come, first-served basis.
