Savannah Orientation

Before You Arrive

In order to ensure a timely and smooth check-in at orientation incoming students are encouraged to complete the following tasks online before the event. These can be completed through MySCAD once the enrollment fee has been paid and the student receives a personal identification number. A complete orientation schedule and detailed information about the orientation process are provided upon arrival.

Submit a photo for your SCAD Card ID. Incoming students may provide an image electronically and have their ID ready and waiting for them at orientation. Photographs should be uploaded to MySCAD using the instructions provided in the New Student Task List channel under the New Student tab. For more information, email SCAD Card Services at scadcard@scad.edu.
Confirm that all financial aid documentation has been received. Students may find any outstanding requirements listed in MySCAD, on the Financial Aid Requirements channel under the My Info tab. For more information, email sfs@scad.edu.
Pay the housing reservation fee. New students who plan to live in university housing can view the status of their housing reservation in the New Student Task List channel of MySCAD under the New Student tab.
Complete the housing application online. New students who plan to live in university housing must complete the housing application. The application is available in the New Student Task List channel of MySCAD under the New Student tab.
- Select "Learn more" next to "Complete My Housing Application."
- After the housing reservation fee has been paid, select "Complete" to begin the housing application
Pay the tuition balance. Pay tuition online through the New Student Task List channel of MySCAD under the New Student tab.
Learn about student support services. Students who require assistance during the academic year due to physical, psychological and/or learning disabilities should contact the counseling and student support services office at counseling@scad.edu.
Bring a government-issued ID with you to orientation check-in.

Recognition

Naughty Dog recognizes Liu and Lenz
Philip Liu, M.F.A. visual effects student and SCAD alumnus (B.A., digital media, 2011) and Joseph Lenz, M.A. visual effects student and SCAD alumnus (B.F.A., visual effects, 2011) were recognized by the game company Naughty Dog for game art created submitted to a Fan Art Competition based on their upcoming game "The Last of Us." This project was created in an independent study with Luis Cataldi, chair of the SCAD interactive design and game development. See full game art.
Craig Stevens receives educator prize
SCAD professor Craig Stevens, a photographer, printmaker and educator, has received the inaugural $5,000 Susan Carr Educator Prize from the American Society of Media Photographers. Stevens has taught photography at SCAD for 25 years.
C&R Press publishes Chris Bundy book
"Baby You're a Rich Man," a book by writing professor Chris Bundy, has been published by C&R Press. The book, illustrated by SCAD alumnus Max Currie (B.F.A., sequential art, 2012), follows the story of Ken Richman, a down-on-his-luck, B-level variety star on Japanese television who is forced to go into hiding when he becomes the target of an escaped prisoner. "Baby You're a Rich Man" will be released in May.
Absher was named Liz Claiborne Design Scholar
B.F.A. fashion student Katherine Absher was named the 2013 Liz Claiborne Design Scholar by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. The prestigious $25,000 award is presented each year to the student who best addresses through fashion the lifestyle and needs of women, as judged by a panel of fashion industry experts.
