Only students who have been cited as unsatisfactory progress due to unearned hours (annual satisfactory progress review completed at the end of each spring quarter) are eligible to appeal this decision. Students cited as unsatisfactory progress due to their cumulative grade point average at the end of their sixth term are not eligible to appeal that decision. View the complete Policy on Satisfactory Progress for Eligibility to Receive Funds for additional information.
Students can submit a written appeal if they have extenuating circumstances surrounding their lack of satisfactory progress while receiving federal/state financial aid. Students should complete and return the
Unsatisfactory Progress Appeal form, making sure that any required documentation is included, to the office of financial aid at P.O. Box 3146, Savannah, GA 31402-3146. Completed forms can also be placed in a sealed envelope and put in the financial aid drop box located in the lobby of York Hall, 115 E. York St., for SCAD Savannah students or the financial aid drop box located in the Student Resource Center, 1600 Peachtree St., for SCAD Atlanta students.
Within 30 days of receipt in the financial aid office of a student's completed appeal form and supporting documentation, the Financial Review Committee will meet and review the appeal. All students will be notified in writing and through their SCAD e-mail account of the committee's final decision to approve or deny the appeal to reinstate the student's federal and/or state financial aid. The two outcomes are as follows:
- Your appeal is approved — Your financial aid eligibility is reinstated for your next term of enrollment. You must attend that term on a full-time basis and complete all classes with passing grades to retain your financial aid beyond that term.
- Your appeal is denied — All committee decisions are final. Your financial aid eligibility is not re-instated until you make up the missing hours without federal or state aid assistance.
