"As an educator and professional artist, I strive to encourage excellence in my students and myself. My class material is challenging, interactive and relevant to current issues and events. I believe that it is important for students to make a connection with art by encouraging them to make their efforts relevant to their lives and the world in which they live. I follow a comprehensive approach to art education, which integrates art history, art production, art criticism and aesthetics. When opportunities are provided for students to understand the contextual influences upon artistic productions, it can lead to a greater worldview and deeper investment in their work. Most of all I encourage students to be creative and to express their thoughts and ideas in a visual manner."
