Steven A. Ramsey

  • B.F.A., glass, Cleveland Institute of Art, 1983
  • M.F.A., glass, Illinois State University, 1989
First year at SCAD:

"My pedagogy seeks to engage the students into making a personal investment in their learning by encouraging participation and dialogue by incorporating active learning exercises and analysis in a manner that reveals the correlation of visual concepts to personal interests and exploration. Conceptual development is addressed by including research, organic exploration and other creative problem solving strategies with group and individual analysis of project solutions. Creativity is inspired by exploring connectivity to areas outside of the venue of visual art. Critiques are both written and oral to reinforce clear and coherent ideation."

Professor Ramsey's work has been twice selected by the Corning Museum of Glass for their international New Glass Review. In addition, his work has been selected twice for exhibition at the international MacWorld Expo and SIGGRAPH conferences, and in many nationally recognized events.
