"Having directed design studios within leading architectural and interior design firms, as well as for my own firm, I realized the importance of teaching and mentoring young designers many years prior to entering academia. The strategic balance of creative, technical and business aspects of design was heavily emphasized within each setting in which I worked, and professional development of staffed members was of paramount importance. As an employer I recognized the value of an excellent education as a foundation for practice; now, with more than 11 years as a professor, my focus in education is to prepare students for dynamic future roles in which creative and critical thinking will enhance the lives of users of interior space across the globe."
