Awards and Recognition
DeRose Design, a high-end producer of bathroom furniture selected undergraduate furniture design students Lacey Campbell, Dustin Friedel, Elizabeth Fryman, Ryan Long and Henry Parker to show their designs for a vanity collection at the Kitchen and Bath Show in Atlanta in May 2009. A design by Friedel will be built as a full-scale functioning prototype by DeRose.

  • B.F.A., M.A. and M.F.A. in furniture design
At SCAD, students in the furniture design department hone their skills as designers by mastering the fundamentals and learning the design processes through which products are conceived, developed, fabricated and marketed. Student designs are tested for style, comfort, utility and durability through the creation of computer renderings, scale models or prototypes.

The program fosters intelligent designers who understand modern manufacturing technology, and create stylish, functional furniture that can be easily produced, marketed and sold.

National and International Trade Shows
Including the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, the NeoCon World Trade Fair and Salon Satellite

Extraordinary Facilities
  • The Gulfstream Center for Furniture and Industrial Design is a 43,000-square-foot facility that enables students to design and create models or full-scale prototypes of their designs.
  • The advanced technology lab includes Computer Numeric Controlled equipment for rapid prototyping and production.
  • Computer resources including AutoCAD, Autodesk Studio, SolidWorks and Rhino 3-D complement computer-aided fabrication equipment and 3-D printers, offering vital training in industry-standard technology.
