The general education curriculum supports the mission of the college to prepare talented students for careers. At SCAD, all undergraduate students receive a strong liberal arts education to expand their capacity for intellectual inquiry, and to develop practical skills to enable them to be creative and responsible world citizens in today’s global society.

The general education curriculum is designed to empower students with oral and written communication skills, qualitative and quantitative reasoning skills, collaborative skills, computer literacy and global awareness. General education coursework includes required courses in humanities/fine arts, social/behavioral sciences and natural sciences/mathematics. These courses are integrated into the undergraduate major programs, reinforcing the value and importance of general education in the preparation of successful students.
