Jennifer Reis wins 2009 Silver Telly Award
Advertising created by SCAD advertising design M.F.A. candidate Jennifer Reis recently won a 2009 Silver Telly Award. The Telly Awards honor outstanding advertising in television, video and online. The award-winning work was a "Grow US" video for GlaxoSmithKline. Reis created the campaign while working as a copywriter at Capstrat, Raleigh, N.C. She is now a copywriter at Ogilvy in Durham, N.C. Graduate advertising design students Rebecca Cullers and Jamie Helm were selected as finalists in the fourth annual Future Lions Competition in Cannes, France, for their "Sephora" campaign. Their entry was one of 19 finalists, out of more than 700 entries.

Architectural historians work with DNR
SCAD hosted the National Register Review Board Meeting for the Historic Preservation Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources June 5 at SCAD-Atlanta's Ivy Hall. Part-time architectural history professor Steven Moffson, the division's architectural historian, presented nominations for the National Register of Historic Places. Professor Jeff Eley serves on the review board, and graduate student Ruben Acosta is interning with the office this summer.

Undergraduate graphic design eLearning student Paola Lagioia is the winner of "Con Kleenex Expresa tu Hispanidad," or "With Kleenex Express Your Hispanic Culture," a competition sponsored by Kimberly Clark. The tissue company invited Hispanic amateur artists to express their heritage by creating works of art. Lagioia is one of three winners whose designs will be printed on Kleenex boxes during Hispanic Heritage month Sept. 15-Oct. 15. The winners also received $5,000. Crisenbery, Clapp win artist scholarships
Two foundation studies students were selected as winners of the national American Artist: Drawing magazine Scholarship Competition. Undergraduate illustration student Casey Crisenbery was selected for the Grand Prize, which included a $5,000 scholarship to SCAD plus an Artist's Kit from Chartpak. Undergraduate illustration student Natalie Clapp was selected as one of five finalists and received a $500 scholarship to SCAD plus a Studio Kit from Chartpak.

Priore featured in festival retrospective
Work by Christopher Priore, an M.F.A. student in painting, will be featured in the Pittsburgh, Pa., Three Rivers Arts Festival's 50 Anniversary Retrospective Exhibition June 5-14. In 1981 and 1982, the festival commissioned a series of Priore's smoke sculptures, large-scale public pieces created with skywriting planes. He also was awarded Best Indoor Sculpture for a seven-foot tower that will be featured in the retrospective.
