SCAD received a $5,000 grant from Target to provide professional development opportunities for students, such as entry fees, conference registration and residency costs. Allicia Pickett, assistant director of career services, wrote the grant and administers the program.

Michael Clark, SCAD technology support center manager, received a Communication Award of Excellence given by the Association of Computing Machinery Special Interest Groups on University and College Computer Services for his submission of electronic instructional material related to training on the new Web help desk system. The award was presented in the Electronic How-to-guide category at the SIGUCCS annual conference in St. Louis, Mo., in October.

SCAD is featured on the Sept. 6 episode of MTV's show "Made," a reality series following high school students who want to be "made" into singers, athletes, dancers and more. The show includes a segment featuring Michael Chaney, SCAD film and television professor, and Andrea Jarrett, senior admission representative, giving a tour to a high school senior interested in pursing a sound design career.

Aaron Pompei, senior media designer for SCAD eLearning.The article, titled "
Savannah College of Art and Design Produces the 'Virtual Lecture Hall," expounds on the benefit and purpose of the Virtual Lecture Hall to provide all SCAD students with a way to view lectures, regardless of their location, and explains the production process used by the SCAD eLearning media design team, including software details.
