Nov 6, 2009 The International Digital Media Art Association presented SCAD with the 2009 Innovative Program Award in recognition of our leadership and excellence in digital media.

SCAD eLearning wins Sloan award
Oct 16, 2009 SCAD eLearning has garnered the 2009 Sloan Consortium Award for Excellence in Institution-Wide Online Teaching and Learning Programming. The award recognizes SCAD for “outstanding achievement in the development and delivery of exemplary online programs in art and design education with unmatched dedication to student learning.” Read the press release.

Design management program in top 30
Oct 14, 2009 The SCAD design management program was named one of 30 of the “World’s Best Design Programs” by BusinessWeek for significantly integrating design thinking and business.

Equestrian studies receives accreditation
Sep 11, 2009 SCAD's Bachelor of Arts degree in equestrian studies has been approved by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and School (SACS). Approval of the program by SACS acknowledges that the SCAD equestrian studies program, faculty and curriculum meet the standards of SACS, which currently accredits SCAD. The B.A. degree program in equestrian studies will be offered in Fall 2009 at the Savannah location.

Guide article lauds SCAD game design
Sep 4, 2009 Game Career Guide recently published an online article, "Game Curricula: Differences in Focus" by Lewis Pulsipher, that recognizes SCAD for offering a comprehensive, focused game-design program.

CIDA approves interior design program
Sep 1, 2009 The Savannah College of Art and Design announces that its interior design program leading to the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (206 Grandville Ave., Suite 350, Grand Rapids, MI, 49503). CIDA’s accreditation affirms that SCAD’s interior design program meets the rigorous standards of CIDA and ensures that SCAD interior design graduates are prepared to enter professional practice.

Marvel names SCAD among top places to recruit
May 22, 2009 In a May 21 article titled "The New College Rankings" by Kathleen Kingsbury, blog the Daily Beast named SCAD as one of three institutions from which Marvel Comics recruits most of its editors. The Daily Beast was founded by Tina Brown, bestselling author and former editor of Vanity Fair and the New Yorker magazines, and is "a speedy, smart edit of the web from the merciless point of view of what interests the editors."

SCAD deemed Best Furniture Design Program
May 22, 2009 The SCAD furniture design department received the award for Best International Furniture Design Program in the Young & Design 2009 competition by Interni magazine, a leading Italian design publication. Department chair Antonio Larosa and M.F.A. students Jonathan Anderson, Lonnie Coulter and Timothy Luscher accepted the award in Milan.

SCAD hosts 2009 ACSA Regional Conference
Jan 23, 2009 The goal of the ACSA 2009 Southeast Regional Conference, Oct. 8-10, titled "Architecture is a Thing of Art," is to create a dialog for the sharing of thoughts and ideas through papers and projects that address the questions that will focus on the areas of knowledge, craft, art and pedagogy.

L.A. Times: ITGM program ranked in top 10
Dec 23, 2008 According to the Los Angeles Times, the Savannah College of Art and Design interactive design and game development program ranks among the top 10 programs in the country mentioned by industry recruiters. More than 200 schools offer courses in various aspects of video game development, according to the LAT. SCAD's program features award-winning faculty with over 50 years of professional game industry experience among them as well as technology that is second to none.

SCAD wins Historic Savannah Foundation award
Nov 6, 2008 SCAD won a 2008 preservation award from the Historic Savannah Foundation for the exterior preservation of Kiah Hall/SCAD Museum of Art. The architects for the project were DPK&A Architects of Philadelphia, and the contractor was J. T. Turner Construction of Savannah. (This project was done with the assistance of the Save America's Treasures grant, and the grants from the Charles A. Frueauff Foundation and the Frances Wood Wilson Foundation.) The 1856 Greek Revival building, the former headquarters of the venerable Central of Georgia Railroad, now houses the SCAD Museum of Art.

SCAD wins two Council Excellence Awards
Oct 28, 2008 SCAD was selected as a winner of two Council for Advancement and Support of Educators' 2008 Circle of Excellence Awards. The international awards program honors exemplary advancement programs and activities worldwide. SCAD was honored with a 2008 CASE Circle of Excellence Grand Gold Award in the Individual In-house Publications category for the 2007 Fashion Show catalog. The catalog beat out 76 other entries to win the top award in its category.

SCAD receives AIA Georgia Honorable Mention
Oct 17, 2008 SCAD received an Honorable Recognition Award from AIA Georgia, the state chapter of American Institute of Architects. SCAD was commended for its foresight, perseverance and dedication to the preservation and restoration of Ivy Hall and for the college's many other restored structures in Savannah. The competiton for the award was open to any individual or organization that made a significant contribution to the profession of architecture and the built environment.

Applied Arts: SCAD illustration in top five
Oct 17, 2008 The SCAD illustration department was ranked as one of the top five innovative programs by Applied Arts magazine in the October 2008 issue. The ranking highlighted universities where educators are preparing students for the changing world of design.

SCAD earns NCARB Prize for BSI+P
Apr 14, 2008 The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards awarded the Savannah College of Art and Design a 2008 NCARB Prize for the Building Systems Integration and Performance Studio, BSI+P, established and led by Emad Afifi, professor of architecture and interim dean of the School of Building Arts.

SCAD admission materials win awards
Apr 10, 2008 The SCAD communications department won three gold awards, one silver award and one merit award for its admission publications in the Admissions Marketing Report 23rd Annual Admissions Advertising Awards. Awards and certificates are given to those entrants whose programs and materials display exceptional quality, creativity and message effectiveness.

Fibers department picked for Furniture Fair
Apr 7, 2008 The SCAD fibers department was one of only four schools accepted to exhibit at the 2008 International Contemporary Furniture Fair May 17-20. Students will display prototypes of bedding for non-traditional living situations in a continuing partnership with Union Mission's Growing Hope program.

Working Class Studio at Furniture Fair
Feb 29, 2008 SCAD's Working Class Studio, an experimental surface design studio based in the language of cloth and textiles, is the first student college- or university-related studio to show at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair. This year's event was held in New York City.

eLearning receives two Awards for Excellence
Feb 18, 2008 The Instructional Technology Council awarded SCAD eLearning two distinguished Awards for Excellence. SCAD eLearning was among five colleges to receive an Award for Excellence, and only one of two colleges to win multiple awards. The college's Drawing 101 class won the Outstanding Online Course award, and the Outstanding Student Service was awarded for the effective and innovative services and support of all SCAD students enrolled in eLearning courses.
