The Art History of Games is Gamasutra feature
Gamasutra's SIGGRAPH wrap-up included coverage of "The Art History of Games," a panel discussion led by Peter Weishar, dean of the SCAD School of Film, Digital Media and Performing Arts, and John Sharp, an interactive design and game development professor in Atlanta. The session introduced a topic that will be the subject of a SCAD symposium event in February 2010.

Architectural historians work with DNR
SCAD hosted the National Register Review Board Meeting for the Historic Preservation Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources June 5 at SCAD-Atlanta's Ivy Hall. Part-time architectural history professor Steven Moffson, the division's architectural historian, presented nominations for the National Register of Historic Places. Professor Jeff Eley serves on the review board, and graduate student Ruben Acosta is interning with the office this summer.

Professor Alexis Gregory was the moderator of a panel discussion at the 2009 AIA/SC Spring Meeting in Charleston, S.C., Feb. 27-28, 2009. The panel topic was "Overcoming Obstacles to Women's Achievement in Architecture in South Carolina." The panel was based on Professor Gregory's current research on the attrition of women in the field of architecture.

Architecture professor writes article
Architecture professor Alexis Gregory recently completed an article with a fellow Clemson University School of Architecture alumnus in the 2009 South Carolina AIA Magazine. The article is titled "Architecture Looks to its Feminine Side" and was based, in part, on her Master of Science research at Clemson University.

His paper "Baccio Bandinelli's Hercules and Cacus, a challenge to Michelangelo's David" will be featured as part of a panel addressing Renaissance and Baroque Art.

Field receives presidential fellowship
Art history professor Jonathan Field, Ph.D., is recipient of a Presidential Fellowship for Faculty Development for his project "Maxwell's Demon." The fellowship will fund the production of large-scale works to complement two recent pieces, "The Slipper Tongue" and "Hope," as well as financing the production of a professional catalog to promote this work nationally and internationally.

Timberlake publishes in two books
Art history professor Marie Timberlake, Ph.D., published "Tukapu in a Colonial Frame: Andean Space and the semiotics of painted colonial tukapu" in the book "Lenguajes Visuales de los Incas," edited by Paola González Carvajal and Tamara L. Bray. She also contributed "Provisional Councils" and "Diocesan Synods" to "The Guide to Documentary Sources for Andean Studies, 1530-1900," Vol. 1, edited by Joanne Pillsbury. This volume was selected as Choice Outstanding Academic Title of 2008; Choice is a monthly review service published by the Association of College and Research Libraries.

Work by art history professor Jonathan Field, Ph.D., was featured in a review and essay in the March/ April issue of Art Papers. Some of his pieces recently were exhibited at SCAD-Atlanta's Gallery Trois. The work will travel to SCAD-Savannah's Pinnacle Gallery this summer.

SCAD-Atlanta fashion professor Clint Zeagler was named Best Local Designer by the Sunday Paper in the publication's 2009 Reader's Choice Awards. His Pecan Pie Couture line beat runner-up Mychael Knight.

Chaney, Jarrett featured on MTV show
SCAD is featured on the Sept. 6 episode of MTV's show "Made," a reality series following high school students who want to be "made" into singers, athletes, dancers and more. The show includes a segment featuring Michael Chaney, SCAD film and television professor, and Andrea Jarrett, senior admission representative, giving a tour to a high school senior interested in pursing a sound design career.

SCAD deemed Best Furniture Design Program
The SCAD furniture design department received the award for Best International Furniture Design Program in the Young & Design 2009 competition by Interni magazine, a leading Italian design publication. Department chair Antonio Larosa and M.F.A. students Jonathan Anderson, Lonnie Coulter and Timothy Luscher accepted the award in Milan.

children's book depicts a community on the tiny island of Samso,
Denmark, which has become totally energy independent. Drummond wrote
the book and is working on the illustrations.

On display at Savannah's Beach Institute July 12-31, the exhibition is hosted by the Telfair Museum of Art's Friends of African American Art.

Professor is delegate at leadership summit
Professor Crystal Weaver attended the DesignIntelligence Leadership Summit Sept. 30-Oct. 2 in Chicago, Illinois, where she participated as an invited delegate. She is a member of the Design Futures Council. One hundred delegates from the world's most influential AEC firms and related professions convened to identify change drivers, analyze emerging data, and explore innovation in sustainable design at this unique meeting, which is co-hosted by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Mexico Arte Contemporaneo fair in Mexico City, Mexico, held April 22-26, courtesy of Samson Projects. His solo exhibition "Mistresses, Apemantus, and Flattering Lords" is on display at Atlanta's
Gallery Stokes through May 16. Online magazine
Big, Red & Shiny interviewed him in connection with the exhibition. Drennen's work also was featured in the grand reopening exhibition of Samson Projects Gallery in Boston, which opened May 1.

Santander garners recognition
Painting professor Morgan Santander received a request from Holly McColough, curator of Savannah's Jepson Center of the Arts, to submit an exhibition proposal for the 2012 season. In addition, his recent large-format painting "Where is Bin Ladin Hidin'" was hung for the "Savannah Taste Arts Exhibition" at the Meat Gallery in Savannah. La Voz Latina featured him in an article about three Mexican artists featured in the exhibition, and included an image of his collages.
