Naughty Dog recognizes Liu and Lenz

Philip Liu, M.F.A. visual effects student and SCAD alumnus (B.A., digital media, 2011) and Joseph Lenz, M.A. visual effects student and SCAD alumnus (B.F.A., visual effects, 2011) were recognized by the game company Naughty Dog for game art created submitted to a Fan Art Competition based on their upcoming game "The Last of Us." This project was created in an independent study with Luis Cataldi, chair of the SCAD interactive design and game development. See full game art.

3D World recognized "Bird," a short created by a team of SCAD visual effects students, in an online article. The feature said, "A team of Savannah College of Art and Design students expertly match live-action with CG animation and visual effects in this well-executed student short." Led by director and M.F.A. visual effects student Jon Balcome and featuring B.F.A. visual effects students Dan Giraldo and M.F.A. visual effects student Pat Longstreth as VSFX producers, the project started out as Balcome's thesis for his graduate degree at SCAD Savannah. SCAD alumni are working with Lucasfilm and Prime Focus to convert the first Star Wars film to stereo 3-D, a tedious project requiring strong technical understanding.
