Craig Stevens receives educator prize

SCAD professor Craig Stevens, a photographer, printmaker and educator, has received the inaugural $5,000 Susan Carr Educator Prize from the American Society of Media Photographers. Stevens has taught photography at SCAD for 25 years.

Erin McNeil's paper included in new book

M.F.A. photography student Erin McNeil had her paper, "The Trajectory of Reflexivity," accepted for publication in the forthcoming book, "The Reflexive Photographer" (MuseumsEtc, anticipated 2013). Edited by critical and contextual studies scholars, her contribution will address the shifts in reflexivity from early mechanics of motion to photographic processes to current digital media practices.

Humphrey honored by National Geographic

Theron Humphrey (M.F.A., photography, 2007) has been named a National Geographic Traveler of the Year for his project, "This Wild Idea," a site supported by donations from angel investors on the fundraising platform Kickstarter.com. Theron traveled the U.S. for 365 days visiting all 50 states and documenting a new person each day through photography and by recording audio of their stories to share.

Remick awarded "Best of Show" by festival

Edward "Tim" Remick (M.F.A., photography, 2009) was awarded "Best of Show" in the photography division by the Banff Mountain Film Festival in May 2011, and his images will be part of the Banff Mountain Film World Tour and Traveling Photography Exhibition. In February 2011, Remick exhibited his series "After, Portraits from Denali," in a solo show at the Alaska State Museum in Juneau. In January 2011, he received the Patricia B. Wolf Solo Artist Exhibition Award from the Anchorage Museum of History and Art in Anchorage and exhibited his most recent portraits from Denali in March 2012.

Wilfred "Jay" Gould (M.F.A., photography, 2006) is an assistant professor at Louisiana Tech University, where he oversees undergraduate and graduate courses. He continues to exhibit his personal artwork. In the summertime, Gould maintains a position at Maine Media Workshops. He recently completed a fellowship with the Institute for Micromanufacturing, a nanotechnology research facility, where he collaborated on the production of artwork focused on cancer research and nano-bots. Gould was also elected the next chair of the Society for Photographic Education's (SPE) South-Central region.
