Kels Bonham bested 34 other riders to defend her individual title at the
American National Riding Commission's National Intercollegiate Equitation Championship. Her teammate, B.A. equestrian studies student Henrietta Armstrong, was named reserve individual champion. 2011 marks the first time in the program's history that the SCAD Bees claimed the top two individual honors at the event.

For the sixth time in the past eight years, Savannah College of Art & Design's equestrian team took home the ANRC Intercollegiate Equitation Championship at Sweet Briar College in Sweet Briar, Virginia.

SCAD's Bachelor of Arts degree in equestrian studies has been approved by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and School (SACS). Approval of the program by SACS acknowledges that the SCAD equestrian studies program, faculty and curriculum meet the standards of SACS, which currently accredits SCAD. The B.A. degree program in equestrian studies will be offered in Fall 2009 at the Savannah location.
