The October issue of Gamepro magazine featured the Savannah College of Art and Design in the article, "The Best Schools for Gaming." The publication recognized the university for its industry-veteran professors and integrated curriculum. Gamepro also spotlighted notable SCAD alumni CJ Cowan (B.F.A., computer art, 1998) and Mike Wikan (B.F.A., illustration, 1987) for their outstanding work in the game design industry.

Metropolis, a respected architecture and design publication celebrating its 30th anniversary, spotlighted SCAD's design for sustainability program in a survey of the most progressive, pioneering graduate programs in the country. Among the five to make the cut, SCAD's design for sustainability program was praised by Metropolis as one in which students "learn to view sustainability as a key to human survival in the twenty-first century."

- The "This is SCAD " video earned a Bronze award in the Video Student Recruitment Features: Traditional Video, DVD, CD or Film category. There were 22 other entries.
- The 2010-11 SCAD Viewbook won a Silver award in the Individual Student Recruitment Publications: Viewbooks and Prospectuses category, competing against 56 other entries.
- The Fashion Show 2010 Lookbook took a Bronze award in the Excellence in Design: Multi-page Publications and Folders category. There were 86 other entries.

The SCAD Museum of Art has been awarded a major Conservation Project Support grant from The Institute of Museum and Library Services of $149,300. The grant will assist the museum with rehousing its painting collections in a new storage facility with new storage furnishings. The grant to SCAD was not only one of the largest given by IMLS to a single institution, but was also the only one awarded in Georgia. Additional grant recipients include the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Barnes Foundation, and the Detroit Institute of Arts. Read the press release.

SCAD's Bachelor of Arts degree in equestrian studies has been approved by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and School (SACS). Approval of the program by SACS acknowledges that the SCAD equestrian studies program, faculty and curriculum meet the standards of SACS, which currently accredits SCAD. The B.A. degree program in equestrian studies will be offered in Fall 2009 at the Savannah location.

won a 2008 preservation award from the Historic Savannah Foundation for the exterior preservation of Kiah Hall/SCAD Museum of Art
. The architects for the project were DPK&A Architects of Philadelphia, and the contractor was J. T. Turner Construction of Savannah. (This project was done with the assistance of the Save America's Treasures grant, and the grants from the Charles A. Frueauff Foundation and the Frances Wood Wilson Foundation.) The 1856 Greek Revival building, the former headquarters of the venerable Central of Georgia Railroad, now houses the SCAD Museum of Art.

SCAD was selected as a winner of two Council for Advancement and Support of Educators' 2008 Circle of Excellence Awards. The international awards program honors exemplary advancement programs and activities worldwide. SCAD was honored with a 2008 CASE Circle of Excellence Grand Gold Award in the Individual In-house Publications category for the 2007 Fashion Show catalog. The catalog beat out 76 other entries to win the top award in its category.

SCAD received an Honorable Recognition Award from AIA Georgia, the state chapter of American Institute of Architects. SCAD was commended for its foresight, perseverance and dedication to the preservation and restoration of Ivy Hall and for the college's many other restored structures in Savannah. The competiton for the award was open to any individual or organization that made a significant contribution to the profession of architecture and the built environment.
