SCAD Style Étoile Awards Honor Jonathan Adler, Pierre Cardin and Margaret Russell

Stars of style and design will attend an awards celebration April 10 in New York City at the French Embassy

SCAD, Atlanta, SCAD Style, 2008 NEW YORK — For the first time, the SCAD Style Étoile Awards will be held in New York City at the Cultural Services of the French Embassy at 972 Fifth Ave., during a cocktail reception April 10, 6 p.m. Co-hosted by French Ambassador to the United States Pierre Vimont and Savannah College of Art and Design President Paula S. Wallace, the 2008 Étoile Award s will be presented to interior designer and potter Jonathan Adler, Elle Décor Editor-in-Chief Margaret Russell and fashion designer Pierre Cardin, who is also being recognized for his historic restoration and cultural contributions to Lacoste, France. The Savannah College of Art and Design has a campus in Lacoste, and the SCAD Style Étoile Awards benefit the SCAD Style Scholarship and the college’s study abroad program in Lacoste.

Étoile, which means “a star in the sky” in French, connotes brilliance, glamour, iconic style and ideation. The SCAD Style Étoile Awards honor innovative, trend-setting leaders in the fields of style and design. Past recipients have included Linda Fargo, Pamela Fiori, Santiago Barberi Gonzalez, Dakota Jackson, Jeffrey Kalinski, Judy and Michael Mauldin, Lisa Newsom, David Yurman and west elm.

The gala evening will kick off SCAD Style April 10–May 17. Renowned artists, designers and industry professionals will visit the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta and Savannah for a month-long series of events focused on style and design.
