ASAP District 3 2008 Conference hosted by SCAD: The 25th Annual Association of Student Advancement Programs Conference to offer networking and idea sharing for student leaders from nine states

SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Savannah College of Art and Design will host the 25th Annual Association of Student Advancement Programs (ASAP) District 3 Conference Feb. 21-23.  With more than 400 student leaders registered representing nearly 50 colleges and universities in the southeast this could be the largest district conference in district history. District 3 is comprised of ASAP organizations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

Students involved in ASAP organizations are motivated by pride and enthusiasm for their schools.  Their organizations work with either admission, alumni or foundations departments to recruit students, raise funds, keep alumni involved and/or promote traditions and school spirit.

The theme for the conference is Spotlight ON.  The SCAD Student Ambassadors will roll out the red carpet for their guests at the Hyatt Regency. The conference allows students to network with people from other schools and learn professional and leadership skills.  The conference schedule includes teambuilding and networking activities, student-hosted seminars, motivational speakers, a lip sync competition, an awards banquet, photo scavenger hunt, dance and other activities.

The speaker lineup for the conference includes:
  • Richard McSpadden, former commander of the United States Air Force Thunderbirds
  • Samuel Carter, SCAD director of fitness
  • Richard McSpadden, motivational speaker
  • Joseph Kline and SCAD performing arts chair
Students from many of the universities attending the conference will host workshops on topics like: “Lights, Camera, Act Professional”, “Branding Your Program or Organization”, “Triumph Through Traditions” and “It Takes a Whole Village: Volunteers.”
