SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Savannah College of Art and Design presents “Homebound,” a photography exhibition by SCAD professor Weihua Zhang, Oct. 9-23, Hall Street Gallery, 212 W. Hall St. A reception is scheduled for Oct. 18, 6-8 p.m. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

“Homebound” explores Zhang’s connection to her homeland of China. A U.S. resident for nearly two decades and a citizen for two years, Zhang regularly made the 15,000-mile roundtrip journey to China to visit friends and family, and to document changes that have occurred since the country opened its doors to the world in the 1970s.

“I walked the land that nourished me, met people that inspired me, and spent time with those that sustained me,” said Zhang. “During these brief visits, my camera became my best friend. It enabled me to capture the spectacular, the mundane, the strangers and the loved ones.”
