ATLANTA — The Savannah College of Art and Design-Atlanta presents “I’ll Remember You,” an exhibition by Korean photographer Yeondoo Jung, at the ACA Gallery of SCAD, 1280 Peachtree St., Sept. 5–Oct. 21. A gallery talk and reception will be held at the ACA Gallery Oct. 19, 6–9 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.

Named Artist of the Year for 2007 by the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul, Jung’s photographic work reflects his fascination with old Hollywood movies and TV shows. He is especially influenced by the sets and artificial scenery used in movies before the dawn of the computer age.

“Set-makers had to find other ways to manufacture a reality within the artificial construct of the soundstage,” Jung said. “I approach my new photographic series from the opposite direction. I am trying to show how fake the real landscape can be.”

Nothing in “I’ll Remember You” has been digitally manipulated; all of the celluloid images have been achieved by juxtaposing natural elements with old-fashioned prop-making techniques.

Following its Atlanta showing, “I’ll Remember You” will move to Savannah to be displayed at SCAD’s Red Gallery, 201 E. Broughton St., Oct. 26–Nov. 18. This event also will be free and open to the public.

Named “Hottest for Studying Art” among America’s 25 Hottest Colleges by Kaplan/Newsweek, the Savannah College of Art and Design is a private, nonprofit, accredited institution with locations in Atlanta and Savannah, Ga., and in Lacoste, France.
