01/10/2007 SCAD to host Inspire 2007 symposium SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Savannah College of Art and Design broadcast design and motion graphics department is scheduled to host the inaugural Inspire 2007 symposium Feb. 16 at the Lucas Theatre, 32 Abercorn St. The event is intended for students, art and design professionals, faculty and others with interest in the arts.
Inspire 2007 is a one-day symposium held for the purpose of discussion and exchange of creative ideas in broadcast design, motion graphics and media art. Through exposure to the groundbreaking and influential work shared, guests will be motivated toward greater enthusiasm and creativity in their own work.
Presentations will include award-winning professionals Marco Spier and Marie Hyon of Psyop, Brien Holman and Jayson Whitmore of Exopolis, Jakob Trollback of Trollbåck + Company and Jose Gomez and Andre Stringer from Shilo. Collectively the group has generated some of the most talked about work in 2006 for companies such as Gap, Apple and MTV.
A reception for the speakers and award nominees will follow the symposium at Red Gallery, 201 E. Broughton St. Participants will head to the Lucas Theatre for the Cream O’ the Crop award show, a dazzling display of eye candy featuring the best and most innovative motion graphics and media art of the year. Justin Cone, creator and editor of motionographer.com, and Jill Taffet, chair of the SCAD broadcast design and motion graphics department, will curate and moderate the award show.
Admission is $5 for SCAD students and faculty with a valid SCAD ID, $25 for all other students and SCAD alumni and $50 for the general public. Students and alumni must purchase discounted tickets at the SCAD box office, 216 E. Broughton St., or by phone at 912.525.5050. General public tickets may be purchased from the same outlets, or online at .
Art and design professionals representing networks and design studios can participate in the symposium by purchasing a sponsor pass in advance, offered at two levels.
The $100 Gold All-access pass will offer reserved VIP seating for all daytime symposium events as well as the evening Cream O’ the Crop award show. It also includes admission to the roundtable speaker’s luncheon and the cocktail reception before the awards program.
The $500 Platinum VIP sponsor pass offers all components of the Gold All-access pass for two conference participants. Additionally, Platinum VIP sponsors will have their company logo featured on the event program, Web site and other conference materials.
