Savannah Film Festival screened "Avenue Montaigne (Fauteuils d'orchestre)" and "Lonely Hearts" Nov. 3

avenue montaigneSAVANNAH, Ga. — The Savannah Film Festival, hosted by the Savannah College of Art and Design and sponsored by Memorial Health, the Savannah Morning News, the City of Savannah, Coca-Cola and Bessemer Trust screened "Avenue Montaigne (Fauteuils d’orchestre)" at 2:30 p.m., and "Lonely Hearts" at 7 p.m. on Nov. 3 at Trustees Theater, 216 E. Broughton St.

Selected as France’s official entry for this year’s Best Foreign Language Film Oscar, “Avenue Montaigne” stars Cécile de France, Valérie Lemercier and Albert Dupontel. "Avenue Montaigne" centers around Jessica (de France), a beautiful young woman from the provinces who lands a job waiting tables at a chic bistro in Paris.

Based on a true story, "Lonely Hearts," follows two homicide detectives as they track Martha Beck (Salma Hayek) and Raymond Martinez Fernandez (Jared Leto), a murderous couple known as the "Lonely Hearts," who used personal ads to lure their victims.

Professional and student films screened included "Class Act," "Puppet," "Buy the Ticket, Take the Ride," "Earthman," "An Abstraction the Chronology of Will," "Solomon Grundy," "The Floor," "Reflection of Self," "Cooking for Richard," "You’re on in 5," "At the Beach," "Just" and "Bottleneck."

Panel discussions held included "So, You Want to Be a Producer?" and "Superman Returns: Digital Workflows and Visual Effects."

Morning and afternoon screenings and panels are $5 for the general public, $3 for students, seniors and military, and free for SCAD students, faculty and staff with a valid SCAD ID. The normal price for tickets to the evening screenings will be $10 for the general public and $5 for SCAD students, faculty and staff with a valid SCAD ID.
