Having won a Tony award in 2005 for his depiction of Ricky Roma in the Broadway revival of "Glengarry Glen Ross," Schreiber has been called one of the finest actors of his generation. Starring Elijah Wood, Eugene Hutz and Boris Leskin, "Everything is Illuminated" tells the story of a young man’s quest to find the woman who saved his grandfather in a small Ukrainian town that was wiped off the map by the Nazi invasion. A special screening of "Everything is Illuminated" was held earlier in the day at the Lucas Theatre, 32 Abercorn St.
Following the tribute to Schreiber, "The Last King of Scotland," starring Forest Whitaker, James McAvoy and Kerry Washington, screened at the Trustees Theater. Set in Uganda, "The Last King of Scotland" tells the tale of self-appointed Ugandan President Idi Amin, one of the world's most barbaric figures responsible for more than 300,000 executions of Ugandans.
Panel discussions held throughout the day at Red Gallery, 201 E. Broughton St., included "Private Equity Funding for Your Film," "Machinima I" and "Distribution Revolution." Professional and student films "Class Act," "Puppet," "The Hip Hop Project," "Dry Sky," "Dirt Nap," "Santa Baby," "You're on in 5," "At the Beach," "Just," "Bottleneck," "An Abstraction of the Chronology of Will," "Solomon Grundy," "The Floor," "Reflection of Self" and "Cooking for Richard" were also screened.
