SCAD student wants to break record for world’s longest Web wall

Who:
Travis Smith, a 19-year-old sophomore at the Savannah College of Art and Design, is trying to build the world’s longest Internet page.

What:
Smith’s goal is to eventually build a page one mile long with publicly posted material such as images, dedications, works and movies. If he reaches his goal, he plans to submit the wall to the Guinness Book of World Records.

When:
Smith launched the Web site in December 2005, and it is approximately 20 feet long.

Where:

Why:
Smith is using the money he raises through the project to pay for tuition.

How:
Smith is selling the space for one dollar per square inch and has sold space to people across the country and around the world, including Italy, Germany and Israel.
