Architecture professor Carole Pacheco presented "Disentanglement and Gates: An Interactive Game of Architecture Practice" at the 2013 annual meeting of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
Developed with architecture professor Matthew Dudzik, interactive design and game development professor Aram Cookson, interactive design and game development chair Luis Cataldi and architecture chair Greg Hall, this game was awarded a 2012 NCARB Award for the Integration of Practice and Education in the Academy. It garnered US$40,000, the largest amount awarded by NCARB to an academic institution in the 12-year history of the NCARB Prize, Grant and Award programs.
Ethan Weyrick, M.Arch. student, and Hannah Wood (B.F.A., interactive design and game development, 2013) also participated in the presentation and demonstrated the game to NCARB annual meeting attendees.
The project was published in the May/June issue of DesignIntelligence.
