Jordan Hodges, Whitney Crawford make church organ discoveries

B.F.A. historic preservation students Jordan Hodges and Whitney Crawford have made surprising discoveries about Savannah’s oldest church organ. Created by renowned organ maker Henry Erban, it was given to First African Baptist Church, the oldest African-American Baptist congregation in the United States, in 1888. The students’ research was done as part of their Material Culture course and will support the congregation’s fundraising efforts for the organ’s restoration. Read more about the students’ discovery.
