SCAD is required to inform students or parents that their loan will be submitted to the National Student Loan Data System and will be accessible by guaranty agencies, lenders and institutions determined to be authorized users of the data system.
First-time student borrowers and some Grad PLUS borrowers are required to participate in entrance loan counseling, which may be completed online prior to the student's first quarter.
Students are notified via letter and e-mail of the requirement to complete exit counseling on the direct loan website. Student financial advising provides in-person exit counseling upon request.

SCAD financial aid staff Code of Conduct prohibits a conflict of interest with the responsibilities of an agent of the institution with respect to private education loans. The Code of Conduct is available online.
