Nothing is more important than your good health. That is why SCAD offers medical plans designed to help you and your family live healthier lives. You have a choice of three plan options that help protect you from costly and unexpected medical expenses.
Prescription drug coverage
If you enroll in a SCAD medical plan, prescription drug benefits are included. Your prescription drug coverage is in the form of a three-tier benefit structure based on a formulary. Your copay varies, based on the type of prescription.
SCAD offers a basic voluntary vision plan which covers eye exams, prescription lenses and frames or contact lenses for you and your family. Although you may select any licensed provider, you receive the highest level of benefits when you see a network provider.
The SCAD dental plan is designed to help you pay for most necessary dental services and supplies, including diagnostic and preventive care, such as exams, cleanings and X-rays, and basic and major restorative services, such as fillings, crowns and dentures, subject to age and frequency limits.
Dependent care account
Employees may elect to direct some of their pay on a pre-tax basis to pay for eligible dependent day care and elder care expenses.
Healthcare Flexible Spending Account
Employees may elect to direct some of their pay on a pre-tax basis to a Healthcare Flexible Spending Account (FSA). An FSA account saves the employee money by enabling the use of pre-tax dollars to pay for out-of-pocket healthcare expenses.
Health Reimbursement Account
Employees have the option to elect a high deductible health reimbursement account (HRA) coverage plan. Participants in the HRA receive funds contributed by SCAD to help pay their deductible. In addition to the HRA benefit, SCAD covers in-network preventive care at 100%, so HRA dollars are not required for these expenses. HRA funds are available on the first day of the plan year.
